My role was basically a walk-on., though I had more wardrobe time than anyone. Hal wanted to build up the role but got restricted with time — this production already had a four-year delay. At any rate, this was a very gratifying email to receive from a celebrated director: “If you'd like to do it, let us know. I'd love to work with you. But if not—no worries. Once again: your audition was excellent.”
